Open Labs uses a community based approach to tackle problems locally ( but also regionally, and in some cases internationally). We have a global scope formed to educate about and advocate for the benefits open source/free software and to build bridges among different constituencies in the open source/free software community. While we believe that there cannot be a decentralized and free society without free software (free as in freedom) , we promote the general open source ideology too, as it holds in many cases similar values the free software philosophy wants to achieve. We discourage the use of tools which benefit shareholders or individuals and not society, such as DRM, vendor lock-in, excessive copyright law, surveillance and similar.
